About

• I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM.  As a result, I think green chile belongs on everything… even apple pie.
• We moved to the Austin,TX metro area (Cedar Park) in 2019 and love this community!
• I have two sons. One is a fully functioning adult (win for me!) and the other is in elementary school.
• My wife is a Nurse Practitioner, who owns her own family practice, Impact Family Wellness.  (I’m so proud of her!)
• We have two rescue pups… Lilly and Ruby
• My office mate is a Cockatiel named Zia.  (Zia is the symbol on the New Mexico flag)
• I have spent most of my career in technical sales and sales leadership.  I have served as both a sales leader and individual contributor across a few companies.
• I have a passion for learning and education

• On the weekends you will likely find me watching or coaching sports, grilling and smoking in the backyard, enjoying the sun in our pool, boating or riding the WaveRunner, or simply just enjoying time with friends and family.
• We also love to take vacations, with a particular passion for cruises.
• I have a passion for technology.  I am a cybersecurity, networking, gadget fanatic!
• I joined AWS in January of 2022 and am TRULY looking forward to helping our customers with their cybersecurity needs!

My love of Technology: #

Technology has been both a passion and a career for me. It all started with a dinner at my brother’s High School basketball banquet, when I met a parent (Ivan) and we spoke about computers the whole time. At the end of the discussion he inquired if I knew what he did for a living. I did not. As it turns out, he ran the Help Desk at the University of New Mexico, where I was transferring the next semester. That is what started it. I interviewed for the Help Desk, got the job and learned so much that my brain hurt! I checked out a laptop from the department and from there I was hooked! The commercial Internet was in its early days, but I loved every moment. I could chat with people from other countries, participate in online auctions, download videos… wow. This marvel of discovering these new capabilities is something I wish my own kids could have experienced.

Fast forward through my career and you find me here. I work in cloud security, but have done network and general cybersecurity as well. I have a long background with systems and networking, working primarily on the sales side in a consultative sales role. My home is my IT playground that I kick around in after hours. Most weeks I find some time to try something new on the network, install (and remove) a new app or security tool, break the Internet (as my wife says), try something new in AWS, or connect yet another device to the web. As this site continues, be looking for blogs on what I am up to.
